Gianni QUARRA #204
Letters to the Editor
from
Gianni QUARRA SACCO
in CMO #204
Excuse me if I have not written before but May and June are
very busy months for me. I would like you to know that we have used
Higa's tape suceesfully during the meeting introducing to planetary
observation organized by the UAI early this month. The tape was shown
to all the observers attending the meeting and it was also used to make
some drawing parctice and transit timing. Everybody was very impressed
by the quality of the tape and particularly for the resolution achieved
on planet Jupiter.
I have been asked to inquire Mr. Higa about the possibility to use
some parts of his tape inside a forthcoming CD-ROM introducing to
Astronomy & Astrophysics which should be released late this summer here
in Italy. The CD-ROM will contain many professional images from
observatories, HST, Spacecrafts as well as some images from several
amateurs (including our planetary images and animations) in order to
show what non professionals can achieve today.
I would apreciate if you could extend this request to Mr. Higa. I can
guarantee to him that credits for his contribute will be present inside
the CD-ROM and as soon as available I will send him a few copies of the
CD-ROM.
I need to have an answer within tuesday June 2 together with a short
presentation of Mr. Higa. In case of his positive anwer I will make a
VHS-PAL copy of his tape from my Hi8-NTSC tape and give it to Mr.
Federico Tibone who is the responsable for the production of the
CD-ROM.
Concluding, hope everything is fine with you, your family and all CMO
friends and please extend my best regards to every body there.
Look forward to your kind response,
(31 May 1998 email)
