Observing the Photosphere and Chromosphere with
the Solar Optical Telescope and its Focal Plane Package
T. D. Tarbell, for the SOT/FPP Team
This talk will briefly describe the Solar Optical Telescope (SOT)
instrument and its Focal Plane Package (FPP). Then I will concentrate
on the types of observations of the photosphere and chromosphere which
can be collected. Great flexibility is possible, but constraints of
cadence and data rate must be considered. I will describe several
examples of realistic observing programs. Finally, I will touch on the
SOT baseline science plan, which is under construction now.
