Presently, I know that I will be in Japan from July 19 to August 21. I am afraid I cannot read my e-mail after July 17.

During the last months, at Sorbonne Observatory, we greatly improved the working of the system for rotating the dome by putting grease in appropriate places. Now, one person can rotate it completely without having to stop.

Also, we tested a system for observing the sun by projection. We put a mirror behind the eyepiece and we keep the dome nearly closed, so that it is dark inside. In that way, we obtain quite precise images of the sun which are about one meter wide. Are you doing the same at Fukui Observatory?

With best wishes for the meeting.

©  . . . . . . . .Dear Masatsugu, I am sorry I answer your e-mails so late. I was terribly busy renovating with two workmen the house I bought recently, and many practical problems made me forget very important things.  Presently, it is only two days before my departure.

Of course, it is better for me to stay in the hotel of the Meeting with all of you.  I am also interested in hilltop place for the night of August 4. I guess we are not supposed to sleep so much that night, but it probably depends on the weather.

I will probably arrive at Ina from Yamanashi-shi or Kiso-Fukushima. Train is probably the most convenient solution for that. Could you tell me the appropriate station and arrival time?

Anyway, I will call you after my arrival in Japan.

 With best wishes.

©  . . . . . . . .Dear Masatsugu,  Thank you very much for all the information. I will call you in due time when I am in Japan. Yamanashi-shi is not in Nagasaka, but a place between Kofu and Katsunuma, which is famous for momo.

Yesterday, I finished reading "Les mémoires d'une jeune fille rangée" by Simone de Beauvoir. I remember that your wife translated the books which is concerened with Simone de Beauvoir.

  Awaiting to meeting you.
