Dear Masatsugu,
I hope my scan
of my drawing allows for clear reading of my notes as well as the sketching. I
really think there is presently some atmospheric (Martian) haze limiting good
resolution of the surface features. I have had better views with the same telescope
in past apparitions as my old sketches attest.
The very bright
spot on the north edge of the SPC, at approximately 10 deg longitude was
unmistakable. Does it have anything to do with a named feature called the
"Mountains of Michell"? I would appreciate
some enlightenment as to the bright spot observed and the phrase "Mountains
of Mitchell", which could an obsolete term for a newer name for a feature.
The bright spot and the phrase may have no connection at all.
Good
seeing
