The issue spent first eight pages to treat the possible dust disturbance at
Elysium observed by Yukio MORITA (Mo)
on 12 Feb (λ=039°Ls) at ω=193°W. A
summary was given already in #130, #131 while this is a more complete note (Note (13)):
Elysium was visible from 2 Feb to 14 Feb in Japan and here was reviewed a total
of 68 observations domestically obtained. Unfortunately however it was in
February when the weather was poor and on the very day no other than Mo and
IWASAKI (Iw)
observed (but Iw stopped observing earlier the night). At
Fortunately, there were communicated to us several
observations from Europe (listed 16 observations): On the very day, N BIVER
(NBv) produced a drawing at ω=247°W, and on the following 13 Feb, J WARELL
(JWr) made
an observation at ω=247°W and also J
The northern dust has not been paid much
attention hitherto, but already in 1967 SAHEKI and MIYAMOTO observed some examples
of dusts from the northern hemisphere rising to the equatorial region, and we recall
a more recent fact that MGS detected an interesting dust near the npc at λ=040°Ls. Thus we should be recommended to
summarise carefully such cases before the advent of the apparitions where the northern
hemisphere faces to us.
The LtE corner shows
that the year David GRAHAM succeeded Alan HEATH as Director of the BAA Saturn
Section. Ichiro HASEGAWA sent us a lecture of A DOLLFUS on ANTONIADI written in
English. Several Greeting Cards were copied: JWr’s one shows a bird0eye view
of an old church at Uppsala and RMk’s shows the Burlington House in the Victorian age: On
the road depicted is a double-decker pulled by horses showing a signboard of
Lipton Tea.
MINAMI’s essay in Japanese says that few notices but the
relative pronoun popular in foreign languages is not originally found in the Japanese
language and so we need a bit of idea when we translate. The final page proves
that the coming 1994 OAA Convention was already decided to be held at
