From Thomas R CAVE
@. . .
. . Just a short note. I am enclosing two humble drawings - my first so far this
upcoming apparition of Mars. These are laser copies rather than Xerox. The laser
copies bring out all the detail on the original. Thus far we have only two
mornings after midnight that so far have been clear. On these two mornings fog
moved in before dawn. Perhaps we will begin to have clear skies at least for a
while after midnight. My latitude is 33.3 deg north but even here Mars near the
meridian is considerably low. In 2003 Mars will be quite a bit higher. I live
just 5 short blocks from the ocean directly south of us. My elevation is nearly
90 feet above sea level.
Hoping
the skies stay clear so I can begin steady and extended Mars
work,
Most
cordially yours
