Hi Guys here are 3
Saturn Images taken in different seeing conditions. No spots were seen in any
of the derotated and stacked images .
You may note that two
images used an unfiltered Luminance. As these make use of IR, the colour of the
belts and the visibility of the polar hexagon takes on a little of the
appearance of images using a red filtered image. The one using a Luminance
taken with just an IR blocker does not show the polar hex so well, but the
yellow "collar" belt is slightly more pronounced.
Note too how the
shadow of the globe on the rings has increased in width as we get further from
opposition.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Next Monday, June 30, will be the anniversary of Cassini's entry into Saturn

Dear friends and
colleagues,
This winter and
spring my regular Jupiter imaging has been part of an imaging project to
capture the evolution of the atmosphere of Jupiter, inspired by the epic
Voyager 1 animation. We ended up receiving observations from seven amateurs
scattered around southern Sweden, covering three months of motion from January
to March. The weather started out really lousy and tight collaboration was
required to avoid clouds and get decent coverage in time and longitude.
The result is Voyager
3, the Swedish probe to the giant planet!
I have my sights set
on measuring the compiled maps to create drift charts this summer, looking
forward to get numbers and insight out of this effort.
Hope you like it, and
all the best,

I would like to thank
some observers who follow up my observation of June 15th.
I was wondering what I had seen and what I have captured in the images. First, there
are reports of white clouds over the terminator especially around Elysium area
according to Richard McKim of the BAA Mars section and Jim Melka. I may have
mistakenly reported as dust clouds instead of white clouds. They may be intense
at that moment and dissipated in the second image as Mars rotated. The white
clouds burn off by the local afternoon sun.
Visually through the eyepiece, there was some kind of brightness on the east
side to the terminator. I might also seen an irradiation effect.
The colors in the
images are pale and they are hard to judge in the R, G, B channels. Thay may
play a trick. Also, I did not use the IR blocker filter. So, there is a cross
pollution information between the R, G, B images.
In the long run,
certainly the white clouds were quite intense at the moment but my images were
probably exaggerated during the processing to make them look more unusual.
Still, I am hoping
someone along the USA east coast including Efrain Morales of PR image around
the same time as I did. Otherwise, it would be hard to prove how intense were
the white clouds.
Thanks,

visual comparing ss with double stack, I imaged AR2080 in ds as it showed some
of the finer filaments more strongly

After obtaining a rather nice PST , Intended has a
handy solar monitor scope, my respect for them soared. I succumbed to the
temptation to see what it would image like. The image off the ds 90 is a 4

Hi Guys two evening
with good seeing again. The 10th was very good but the 11th was superbly stable
but unfortunately cut short by cloud .
It was interesting to
compare the 10th's image with its unfiltered Luminance image applied to a
colourcam image, with the straight colourcam image from the 11th. The white
light L on colour image exhibited polar detail similar to a red filtered
Luminance image, e.g. the hex is darker . I concluded that this is due to the
unfiltered Luminance image being exposed to IR , so for a truly white light L
The IR blocker should be included in the imaging train.
No spot detail was
found. Winjupos derotate was used for each image. There was 21 mins of derotate
for the L of the 10th, and 18 mins for the colour image from the 11th.

Ago ... Entrance into the Kingdom of Saturn!
Received: 12 June 2014
at 03:41 JST
Dear Friends and
Colleagues,
Ten years ago today, the spacecraft Cassini, and we along with it, made its
official entrance into the kingdom of Saturn. On that day, we performed our
first, mind-blowing encounter -- one of many yet to come -- with Saturn's outer
moon, Phoebe. The sharpness of our images, the complexity of the geological
formations on the moon's surface, the clear presence of water ice, and the
sheer jolt of excitement at such a daring strafing pass by this remote
celestial body stunned us all into a happy stupor. We knew then we had a
long, historic and thrilling adventure up ahead. And we were right!
We are delighted today to mark this special occasion by re-processing and
presenting to you anew two mosaics of images taken on that day: one on
approach to Phoebe and one on departure.
Go to .....
http://www.ciclops.org/view/7900/Arrival-and-Departure-at-Phoebe
...
and recall _your_ surprise at such a wondrous sight, seen for the first time,
ten years ago.
One of the planet's outer `irregular' moons, Phoebe is believed to be a
Sun-orbiting outer solar system body that was gravitationally tugged into orbit
around Saturn. As such, it is cousin to Pluto and the other members of
the Kuiper Belt whose orbits extend far beyond the orbit of Neptune.
So, gaze long and hard at these views of distant Phoebe, knowing that in a bit
more than a year, humanity will complete the reconnaissance of the classical
solar system when the New Horizons spacecraft arrives at Pluto, and we and it,
at long last, come face to face.
Enjoy!

Hi Guys another evening of good seeing for Saturn , the best I
have seen it this apparition . I used a red filter on the mono flea in an
attempt to darken and get a decent shot of the green polar hexagon, in spite of
the 23 degrees elevation .
Colour data was captured with a flea 3 colourcam and the white
light L was unfiltered.

The low altitude of Mars has been problematic and causes lot of dispersion and
bad seeing, and can of course not be compared to the results of experienced
imagers having Mars higher in the sky. But at least I have acquired four images
of which I am quite satisfied given the circumstances (March 29, April 29, May
15 and May 20).
In any case, I hope these images are of interest and may be useful. Even though
I have checked and rechecked, I am sure there is incorrect information hiding
in the image labels, please let me know if you identify any.
I will continue following Mars as long as the bright skies and altitude allow
and hope for a few more images this summer.

possible ???
On the animated GIF
