Hi All,
I am trying different IR filters to overcome the bad seeing that has arrived this last week and will be here a lot over the coming winter months..

This image is with a wavelength of 750 to 850 nanometers with a combination of thee filters. This combination shows the best view with the current bad seeing and the ZWO ASI 462MC camera.

They provide, not only a good documentation of the extent of the dust storm, but also a really good demonstration that IR penetrates dust better than R, G, or B do. This is similar to IR's better penetration of water ice hazes.

Dear all,

Here are images from the past two nights showing bright dust cloud over Noachis-Argyre and a dusty veil over Mare Acidalium. 

Conditions were once again inferior - on Oct 9, seeing was poor, and on Oct 10, the seeing was good but a strong and gusty wind which caused Mars to pinball around the frame - glad I got anything at all.

But great to catch the dust, always interesting!

Dear all,

Finally the skies cleared and I was able to capture the storm which has spread across much of the visible disk, especially across Acidalium and Solis Lacus with a core in Ophir and westwards.

Unfortunately the seeing was so-so and the image difficult to focus with a jetstream above..
